The IP (International Protection) protection level system for
LED Display Screen was drafted by IEC (International Electro Technical Commission). The lamps and lanterns are classified according to their characteristics of dust-proof, foreign invasion-proof, waterproof and moisture-proof. The objects referred to here include tools, human fingers and so on. They can not touch the charged part of the lamp, so as to avoid electric shock.
IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number represents the level of dust-proof and foreign invasion prevention of lamps and lanterns, and the second number represents the degree of sealing of moisture-proof and water-proof invasion of lamps and lanterns. The bigger the number, the higher the level of protection. The two numbers indicate the level of protection as follows:

0 unprotected IP0-
1. Prevent solid objects larger than 50mm from intruding and human body (such as palm) from accidentally touching parts inside lamps. Prevent large size (diameter greater than 50mm) objects from intruding into IP1-
2. Prevent solid objects larger than 12 mm from intruding into the lamp and prevent human fingers from touching the parts inside the lamp. Prevent medium-sized (diameter greater than 12 mm, length greater than 80 mm) objects from intruding into IP2-
3. Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 2.5mm, tools, wires or similar small objects larger than 2.5mm in diameter or thickness from touching the interior parts of lamps IP3-
4. Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 1.0 mm, tools, wires or similar small objects larger than 1.0 mm in diameter or thickness from touching the interior parts of lamps and lanterns IP4-
5 Dust-proof, completely prevent foreign invasion. Although it can not completely prevent dust intrusion, the amount of dust intrusion will not affect the normal operation of lamps IP5-
6. Dust tightness completely prevents foreign matter from intruding, and also completely prevents dust from intruding into IP6-

The second indicator number:
0 unprotected IP-0 with no special protection for people or objects outside
1. Prevent drip intrusion. Vertical drip (e.g. condensate) will not cause harmful effects on lamps and lanterns IP-1.
Dripping water can still be prevented when the lamp is inclined to 15 degrees. When the lamp is inclined from vertical to 15 degrees, dripping water will not cause harmful effects on the lamp IP-2.
3. Prevent the invasion of sprinkled water, prevent rain or water sprayed in the direction of vertical angle less than 60 degrees from entering the lamps, causing damage to IP-3
4. Prevent splashing water from intruding into lamps, and prevent splashing water from entering lamps in all directions, causing damage to IP-4
5. Prevent the water from spraying into the lamp and damage IP-5 by spraying water from all directions.
6. Prevent the intrusion of big waves, install lamps on deck, and prevent the damage IP-6 caused by soaking due to the invasion of big waves.
7. Prevent water intrusion during immersion. Lights immersed in water for a certain time or under a certain water pressure can ensure that IP-7 is not damaged by water inflow.
8. Prevent water intrusion during sinking, and ensure that IP-8 is not damaged by water inflow under the condition of specified water pressure for indefinite sinking of lamps and lanterns.
